Yet, he was depressed to the point of attempting suicide. From his research he learned that middle aged men account for 19% of the population, but 40% of the suicide rates. My developmental edits mainly focused on structure and flow. Once Choosing Life was published (and won numerous awards including the Independent Press Award and American Book Fest Award), we began structuring and designing his blog about recovery and well being as well as his role as a recovery mentor.

We co-wrote Swimming to Freedom and once it was complete, I helped him write his book proposal, query letter, and begin the query process. It was published by Abrahams Books in 2021 and remains a prominent work about the Freedom Swimmers who fled mainland China during the cultural revolution.
We met several times and after a round of developmental edits, she deemed me the queen of Rubik’s cubing her ideas and manuscript to optimize its messaging and theme.
